Established in 2002, the Arab Open University has sought to develop and disseminate knowledge, and to build expertise in accordance with international quality standards, without being bound by time or geographical barriers, in order to contribute to preparing the workforce best suited to development needs, and building a society of science and knowledge in the Arab countries. The Egypt branch stands true to this mission thanks to the contribution of distinguished faculty members, dedicated branch staff, and the diverse and ambitious student body. The Supreme Council of Universities was established in 1950, and the council aims to provide university education that pushes human development to effectively contribute to the development and implementation of the country's economic development plans and the application of modern technology. It works on the independence of universities and prepares distinguished graduates who are able to compete in the global labor market in order to achieve a link between university education and the needs of society and production. The Council seeks to develop and update the performance of universities by applying methods of performance evaluation, quality assurance, achieving a knowledge society and encouraging innovation and creativity within the framework of scientific competition based on excellence.
