Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini is the President of Ain Shams University in Egypt.
Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Shawky Al-Metieni, one of the most best pioneers of liver transplantation in Egypt
Study and training:
-Prof. Mahmoud El- Metieni graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University in 1985• Obtained a master's degree in general surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University in 1989
-Traveled to France for a clinical and experimental training on liver transplantation at Cochin Hospital, University of Paris
-Obtained a doctorate degree in general surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, in 1993
-He traveled to Japan in 1996 and received advanced training in liver transplantation surgery at the universities of Tokyo and Kyoto University.
Work and Achievements:
-Resident physician for general surgery at Ain Shams University Hospitals from 1987 to 1990
-Worked as a consultant surgery at Saint Louis University Hospitals, Paris, France
-Established the first unit for liver transplantation from neighborhoods for adults and children at Nile Valley Hospital in Cairo
-He established the Organ Transfer Unit at Ain Shams University Hospitals in 2008
-The first to perform a liver transplant from a living donor, as well as the first to perform a double transfusion of the liver and kidneys
-He was a member of the committee that drew up the law organizing the transfer of members 2010
-Member of the National Committee for the Transfer of Members and Chairman of the Committee's Ethics Committee
-Member of the Advisory Board of SEDICO Pharmaceutical Company from 2009 to 2012
-Member of the Advisory Board of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital and Nile Valley Pharmaceutical Company
-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, starting from August 25, 2015.
-Appointed president of Ain Shams University in August 2019
